Sewage Disposal and Wastewater Management Program

Safe Wastewater Collection, Disposal, and Environmental Protection

Program Description

The disposal and management of sewage and wastewater at Andijan State Technical Institute (ASTI) are conducted in strict accordance with the environmental regulations and water management laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The institute operates a well-maintained wastewater management system designed to protect public health, conserve water resources, and prevent environmental pollution through proper collection, transportation, and disposal of wastewater generated across the campus.

Campus Wastewater Management Infrastructure

1. Public Sewerage Network Integration

All domestic wastewater, including sewage from student dormitories, administrative buildings, classrooms, laboratories, and campus canteens, is directly discharged into the centralized municipal sewerage network managed by the regional state water utility company, "Andijon Suv Ta'minoti" LLC.

The public utility safely transports municipal wastewater to regional wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), where biological and chemical treatment processes are carried out before treated water is discharged into natural water bodies or reused for agricultural irrigation.

2. On-Campus Pre-treatment and Drainage

ASTI regularly maintains its internal drainage and sewage pipeline system to ensure efficient wastewater flow and prevent leakage or contamination of campus soil.

Specialized grease traps are installed in university cafeterias and food service facilities to remove oils and grease from kitchen wastewater before it enters the municipal sewerage network.

3. Stormwater and Rainwater Management

Rainwater drainage systems are designed separately from sanitary sewer pipelines to prevent overloading the municipal sewerage network during periods of heavy rainfall and to improve the efficiency of wastewater collection.

Green Campus Initiative

As part of its Green Campus initiative, Andijan State Technical Institute continuously upgrades its sanitation infrastructure, improves maintenance procedures, and strengthens cooperation with local water supply and wastewater management authorities to ensure reliable, efficient, and environmentally sound sewage disposal.

Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals

  • SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation
