Total Area on Campus for Water Absorption Besides Forest and Planted Vegetation
Sustainable Rainwater Management and Groundwater Recharge
Description
Andijan State Technical Institute has allocated a significant portion of its campus area for natural water absorption and groundwater recharge. In addition to forests and planted vegetation, the campus contains permeable open spaces such as unpaved grounds, infiltration zones, drainage channels, retention ponds, and rainwater collection areas that facilitate the natural absorption of rainwater into the soil.
The institute has implemented a separate rainwater drainage system in campus buildings, enabling rainwater to be directed to ponds, canals, and infiltration areas across the campus. These facilities reduce surface runoff, prevent flooding, and enhance groundwater replenishment.
Several campus buildings are also equipped with rainwater harvesting systems that collect and store rainwater for landscape irrigation and sanitary applications, improving water-use efficiency while supporting sustainable campus operations.
In addition, the campus includes permeable parking areas, open soil surfaces, and water infiltration facilities connected to the rainwater and wastewater management system. These areas play an important role in sustainable water resource management and environmental conservation.
Water Absorption Areas Include
- Open permeable land surfaces
- Rainwater infiltration zones
- Retention ponds and drainage canals
- Permeable parking and pedestrian areas
- Water recharge facilities associated with the campus water management system
